This piece was composed in the 1800s by Ernesto Nazareth who was a pianist who played for silent films in Rio de Janeiro. Ernesto invented his own tune form within choro called a "Tango Brasileiro" and was the king of the "maxixe" rhythm which was the popular rhythm of the day. This tune is a Tango Brasileiro with a maxixe rhythm.
